In November 2026, young water advocates from across Africa will gather in Accra, Ghana, for the AYWF Water Justice Conference 1.0 — the African Youth Water Forum's maiden flagship event and the first time the movement convenes in person at continental scale.
What it is
Conference 1.0 is a youth-led working summit, not a one-off ceremony. Over the course of the programme, delegates will move from conversation to commitment: sharing what the water crisis looks like in their communities, building practical skills, and co-authoring a shared agenda for the years ahead.
When and where
- When: November 2026
- Where: Accra, Ghana
- Convened by: the African Youth Water Forum, an initiative of Young Visionary Leaders Ghana
Exact dates, the full venue, and the registration link will be published here and across our channels as they are confirmed.
What to expect
- Youth-led dialogue on water, sanitation, and climate resilience across African regions.
- Capacity building — sessions designed to strengthen the advocacy, technical, and leadership skills of young people working on water.
- The headline outcome: drafting Africa's first youth-authored continental water declaration, a statement of priorities written by young people, for decision-makers.
Who should be in the room
If you are a youth advocate, a member of a youth-led organisation, a researcher, or an institutional partner working on water and climate, this gathering is for you. Conference 1.0 is where the AYWF community first meets face to face — and where the next phase of the movement takes shape.
