Volunteer
Give your time to water justice.
AYWF runs on the energy of young people who show up for their communities. Volunteering is the fastest way into the movement — no prior experience in the water sector required.
Why volunteer with AYWF
Build real skills
Advocacy, research, communications, event delivery, and community organising — learned by doing, alongside practitioners.
Work across borders
Collaborate with young people in every African sub-region and with partners well beyond it.
Shape the agenda
Volunteers help produce the campaigns, declarations, and research that carry youth voices into water policy.
Grow your network
Meet policymakers, researchers, and youth leaders through AYWF events and regional activities.
Where volunteers help
- Campaigns and social media — producing content for the monthly advocacy themes.
- Research and knowledge management — desk research, data gathering, and report support.
- Events and conferences — planning, logistics, and delivery for webinars and convenings.
- Community engagement — school and community WASH activities in your own area.
- Translation and accessibility — helping the forum work in English and French.
- Regional coordination — supporting your sub-region’s coordinator with outreach.
How to get started
Volunteering runs through membership: join the forum, tell us where you would like to help, and your regional coordinator will be in touch about current activities.
